Marketplace / How it works
At its core, the PromoPit marketplace works just like any other online marketplace -- Merchants add their products/services to the marketplace where buyers can then search, browse, and purchase their desired products quickly and easily.
When a merchant adds their product/service to the marketplace, they will place it in the related categories and "tag" it with a variety of descriptive tags that buyers can then use to help find their product. Organizing the marketplace in such a way allows PromoPit to have thousands of products while maintaining a "quick and easy" experience for buyers.
How to buy a product
When a merchant lists their product for sale on PromoPit, they set a special PromoPit price which is often less than the regular price they sell this product for elsewhere (like on their own website for instance). The merchant then has ability to further discount their product by running a special promotion for up to 24 hours where the discount can be as big as 95% off!
This means, when it comes to purchasing products on PromoPit, you will see products that are currently selling at their PromoPit price (still a great deal!) and other products that are currently on promotion at a much larger discount (up to 95% off!).
The products that are on promotion are easy to identify because they have a countdown timer and their price is shown inside a big red box. For full details on how these special promos work, please refer to the "how promos work" section of the documentation.
So, basically you will just need to decide if the current price is good enough, or if you want to wait and see if the merchant offers this product for even cheaper in the future. Fortunately, there is a cool feature that allows you to "follow" products and be notified if the merchant puts this product on promotion in the future. For full details on this feature, please refer to the "following products" section of the documentation.
TIP: The special promos (the ones where you can get up to 95% off) are ALWAYS released at the same times every day, which is 6am, 12pm, 6pm, and 12am PST ... so make sure you stop by PromoPit as close as possible to these times to get the best deals!
How to GRAB one of those FREE products
There is always something available for FREE on PromoPit! That's right, no matter what time of day, or day of the week, there will always be something for you to try and GRAB for FREE!
At the top left of the PromoPit website, you will see a product that is being offered for FREE. You will also see a countdown timer, and the name of the current "grabber" if there is one.
In order to get this product for free, you will need YOUR name listed there as the "grabber" when the timer runs out. Only one lucky member is going to get this product for free, and it will be the member whose name is displayed there when the time runs out.
The best way to think of it, is kind of like bidding in the sense that only one person can currently be in the positing to win at any given time. And as others attempt to "grab" the item, the previous "grabber" will be bumped off.
So, how do you get YOUR name as the "grabber"? Well, simply put ... you GRAB it!
When you first registered, we gave you 5 "grabs" to start off. If you also took our free VIP upgrade offer, then you received another 5 "grabs" on top of that (if you haven't done this, you can still get in on the free VIP upgrade by clicking here). You can also earn more "grabs", but we will cover that in the section on "earning grabs".
Once you have some grabs in your account, you simply click on the button to "grab it!" Your name will now be listed as the current "grabber". And if nobody else bumps you off before the timer runs out, then you will win that product for FREE!
