How Promos Work

Understanding how the special promos work will help you get the best deals here at PromoPit.

It's simple ... merchants can choose to put any of their products/services on special promotion at any time. These promotions can last either 12 hours or 24 hours depending on what the merchant chooses.

Promos will always go live on the PromoPit website at specific times throughout the day -- specifically at 6am, 12pm, 6pm, and 12am (all times are PST). These are the only times when promos will "start", although once they begin they will last for 12 or 24 hours.

So, why is it important to know when these promos actually start? Well, you see, promos will be at their CHEAPEST when they first come out!

It works like this ... a promos goes live at its lowest price and then increases in price every 10 minutes from this point forward. You can see when the price is going to go up again because every item that is currently on promotion has a countdown timer to the next price increase.

Here's a quick example to help illustrate how a typical promo might operate:

The merchant has a product that they added to the PromoPit marketplace called "Product XYZ". The merchant regularly sells this product on their own website for $19.99 and they list it on PromoPit at $16.99 which represents a discount of 15%.

One day the merchant decides that they want to offer a special promotion for "Product XYZ", so they setup a special promo. They decide that the lowest price they want to offer is $3.99 (an 80% discount) and they setup their promo to start at the next available time which happens to be 6pm PST.

When 6pm PST hits, all promos that were waiting to go live will suddenly be started and visible on the website. "Product XYZ" will now be priced at $3.99 and a 10 minute countdown timer will begin.

From this point forward, the price of "Product XYZ" will increase every 10 minutes until the promo ends at the regular PromoPit price of $16.99 (which will take either 12 hours or 24 hours depending on what the merchant selected).

From the example above, you can see that "Product XYZ" typically sells on PromoPit at a 15% discount for $16.99, but during that special promo, the merchant offered this product starting at just $3.99 (an 80% discount!)

You can also see that the price would increase every 10 minutes, so the cheapest you are going to get a product for, will be in the first 10 minutes of the promo starting.

TIP: Read the product descriptions ahead of time, so that you aren't scrambling to read the details while the timer is counting down to a price increase!

TIP: Follow the products you really like, and we'll notify you as soon as they go on promo!
