Adding your products to the marketplace
Adding your digital products and/or services to the PromoPit marketplace is an easy process, but it is critical that you take the time to do it properly. This quick guide will help make sure you get started on the right foot.
To add your product, simply go to "My Products" from the left side menu. Once you are on the "My Products" page, you click on the "Add Product" button at the top of the page.
There are 6 steps to complete when adding a new product to the marketplace. These steps are listed across the top of the page and you can easily select any step at any time (although we stongly encourage you to do the steps in order and ensure each one is complete before moving on so that you don't forget something). We have broken this support doc into the 6 steps so that you can easily find what you are looking for.
Step 1 |
![]() |
This step is where you add your product info and select the categories and tags that apply. Please take your time on this step as the information you enter here could have a significant impact on how well your product sells.
| Own product or PLR? | Please select whether you are the original product creator, or whether your product contains any PLR content. If you select "This product/service is my own creation", then you must have created the entire product yourself, or paid someone specifically to create this product solely for you and nobody else. If any component of your product is something that you have purchased resell rights to, then please choose that option. The specific guidelines on adding PLR content to PromoPit can be found here |
| Title: | This is the title of your product. Please make sure you don't have any spelling errors on this! If you need to edit your title at a later date, then you will be required to resubmit your product for approval ... even if it's just a spelling error. |
| Short description: | This is a quick description that you want to make "catchy" and compelling. This short description (along with your title) is what potential buyers will see when browsing products in the marketplace ... so make it good! |
| Long description: | This is where you give a more detailed summary of your product or service. You still want to the keep this to a reasonable length and not try to explain every little detail (that's what the sales page is for). |
| Regular price: | This MUST be realistic or your product may not get approved. Please enter a price that your product is listed for elsewhere (on your own website for instance), or that your product has sold for in the RECENT past. If you don't have any previous sales to go from, then you can enter a price that you feel is fair and that you would feel good about actually trying to sell your product at. Please don't put $600 here if you would only ever attempt to sell it for $67 (even if you might feel the "value" is around $600). |
| PromoPit price: | This is the regular price that you are wanting to sell for in the marketplace. This is NOT the price you might choose to sell at when creating a special PromoPit promo (which of course can be a lot lower). This is the price that buyers can always buy your product for, when you are NOT running a special promo. This price is also the END price whenever you create a special promo for your product. Keep in mind that this price cannot be any lower than 75% of the regular price you entered above. |
| Affiliate Commission: | Use the drop-down to select the percent commission that you want to give to affiliates that refer a sale of your product. You can select from 25% to 75% (in 5% increments). PromoPit will automatically calculate the commission at the time of sale and pay both the affiliate and merchant instantly at that time. |
| Product image: | This is the image that we will use when displaying your product in the marketplace. Your image is also shown on your product details page when someone clicks on the DETAILS button to read more about your product. The optimal image size is 165 x 225, although we will resize whatever size image you upload. |
| Satisfaction guarantee: | Please choose the number of days that you would like to provide a satisfaction guarantee. The minimum is 30 days, but you can provide longer if you wish. Please keep in mind that you must honour this guarantee and provide a refund to unhappy customers. We do realize that there will always be people that try to get a product with the intent of refunding (often known as "serial refunders"). Rest assured that we take that very seriously, and so PromoPit does keep track of refunds and will take swift action to remove and ban any "serial refunders". |
| Categories: | Please choose the category or categories that your product falls into. You may choose up to 4 categories if your product GENUINELY belongs in them. When you select a category, it will expand to reveal a number of related "tags" for that category. Please select all tags that apply to your product. You can also add your own tags at the bottom of this page. These tags will help buyers find your product, so be sure to give it a little thought. |
Step 2 |
![]() |
This is where you add some media (images and video) if you like. This media will show up directly below your "long description" when a buyer clicks to view the details of your product.
Step 3 |
![]() |
This is where you stipulate how your product will be delivered to the buyer after payment has been made. You have a number of options here. You can only choose ONE option for product delivery and that will apply to ALL purchases of your product.
| Completing order manually: | Choose this option if you need some information from the buyer before you can deliver the product. You can enter the information that you require and we will display this to the buyer after payment has been made. This will also open a conversation between you and the buyer where you can communicate about the purchase. We can also send an email with all this info to the address you provide (make sure you enter your email address correctly!). Finally, make sure you choose the length of time it will take you to deliver the product or service to the buyer. Be honest with your delivery times because the buyer is shown this BEFORE they purchase, and again AFTER the purchase has been made. |
| Using our ISN: | If you choose to complete orders manually, you also have the option to receive an ISN (Instant Sale Notification). This option is for more advanced merchants that have their own product delivery setup on their own servers and want to tie their PromoPit sales into their existing setup. This requires configuring a "receiving script" on your end that is properly configured according the ISN documention (which is covered in a separate section of the documentation). |
| Providing a download link: | You can provide a download link and when the payment has been completed, we will display this download link to the buyer so they can download the product. Please CONFIRM that your download link works! |
| Host your product on PromoPit: | You can choose to upload your product to PromoPit and we will automatically provide a streaming download of the file to all your buyers. This is the most automated method since we take care of securely delivering your product for you. The maximum file size you can upload is 20Mb for 'Lite' and 'Standard' merchants, and 50Mb for 'Pro' merchants. |
Step 4 |

You have 3 options when it comes to your sales page ...
| Option #1: No sales page | NO sales page at all. In this case, your "long description" will represent all the details available for your product or service. |
| Option #2: Existing sales page | Provide a link to an existing sales page that you are hosting separately. We will load this sales page into PromoPit seamlessly when a potential buyer is viewing your product details. They will NOT leave PromoPit to view this page. Please make sure that the sales page you are linking to, does NOT contain any "buy" links. In other words, there is no possible way for the visitor to purchase from this sales page. This is required to prevent confusion, since the person might be viewing your product details while you are running a special promo on PromoPit and they will expect that price when they click to buy (and it won't be that same price if there is a buy button on your sales page). In all likelyhood, choosing this option will require you to make a copy of your existing sales page without all the buy links. |
| Option #3: Create a sales page | Create a great looking sales page using our online sales page creator. You can easily create a really nice sales page and we will host it for you on PromoPit so you don't have to worry about having your own website or hosting! |
Step 5 |

If you are a Standard or Pro merchant, then you can add a product upsell to your products in the marketplace. The way it works is simple ... you just select another of your approved products and set the upsell price. When somebody purchases your product, they will immediately be directed to your upsell offer after completion. You should try and make your upsell offer related to the product you are attaching it to as this will produce higher conversions. You will also be able to change things around when you create special promos for this product, as you will see. The flexibility of the upsell is yet another feature that makes PromoPit such a powerful sales platform, so make sure you take advantage of it!
Step 6 |
![]() |
This is the final step where you go back and review the previous 4 steps. It's important that you review everything carefully because as soon as you "submit" your product for review, that's it! In other words, you won't be able to edit anything while we are reviewing your product, so make sure you didn't make any mistakes BEFORE submitting it. And how about editing your product after we have reviewed it? Yes, you can edit your product at any time, but in order to edit certain elements of your product, you will need to set your product back to DRAFT which will instantly pause it from the marketplace and you will need to resubmit your edited product for review once more.
